5 Ways to Personalize Your Special Day

1. Serve a Signature Cocktail: Choose a specialty drink that identifies with you and your groom. Have this served at the bar.
2. Use Unique Transportation: Choose a distinctive vehicle to arrive and exit your reception. Vintage cars, sleighs, motorcycles, and carriages are all fun alternatives to your basic limo.
3. Give Tables Names Rather than Numbers: Choose a theme that relates to you and your groom and go with it. Maybe places the two of you have visited, your favorite things, or even words that relate to love.
4. Bring Back the Past: Find out the songs your parents had their first dances to and play them at the reception.
5. Consider Local Flavor: There are so many ways to do this, through decor, cuisine, music, and much more.

MIA

I have to apologize for being completely MIA lately. But a whole lot have things have happened in the last month personally and professionally. So I hope you will enjoy getting updated. I bought my first house. It is adorable and perfect! It is in a cute little neighborhood in Fishers. I also get the pleasure of being a maid of honor in a dear friends wedding this weekend. So I have been taking part in all the wedding hoopla from the opposite side lately. It has been so fun planning a bridal shower and bachelorette party for someone so close to my heart!

Hello!!!

Well this is my first post, so I just thought I would give you a little insight into the world of Cara. I grew up in Fishers and graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School. After high school I attended Ball State University where I was a proud Chi Omega. The summer after my sophomore year I visited an animal shelter and came home with a puppy that I named Tyson. He has been stuck following me around ever since!!! After graduating from Ball State in three years, I became the manager of a campus bar and grill named the Locker Room. If any of my friends had a party or event I was always the one asked to plan it, and I had so much fun getting every detail right. Four and half years and five moves after the visit to that animal shelter, I decided it was time for Tyson and I to move back to the Indy area. Once back in Indy I started working for CIB Bank. That winter I saw the wedding planning class offered through IUPUI and new that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I loved the class, and knew I wanted to get more involved. Since my mom has a background in floral design and has been doing flowers for weddings, it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to start Wild Orchid Events. As for me, I really enjoy taking Tyson on walks, decorating, and catching up on the latest celebrity gossip. I am a sucker for puppies and babies, and LOVE the color pink. On the weekends, if I am not coordinating a wedding or special event you can find me hanging out with my friends. I love experiencing new things: foods, drinks, places, people, events, etc. I think giving the perfect gift, card or surpise and seeing the look on that person's face is the best feeling in the world. Being able to create the perfect moment for someone gives me that same feeling; and I am lucky enough to call that my job. Now you know a little more about my world. This blog will be full of things that will be beneficial to brides and event hosts, my interests, and anything fun or random I feel like passing along. Love makes the world go round; keep on making it!
